 HM Queen's Diamond Jubilee 2012
The proposed celebrations on the Thames sound a sight to behold: Read here. It rather sounds like there will be sailing ships there, too. ps...It all makes me feel old as I remember well her Coronation celebrations. ......

Pity, though, not much detailed attention was given to the "avenue of sail" by the BBC whose coverage was sadly lacking, IMO. However, it was a splendid, patriotic day. The Canaletto comparison is interesting; the skyline has changed somewhat.

Quote: ps...It all makes me feel old as I remember well her Coronation celebrations. ...... Unfortunately we are old! Local TV (mid-Washington state) was primitive in those days (4 hours a day from a repeater station on the mountain) so we had to rely on Life magazine for the gala. I was lucky to be in London in 1977 so enjoyed that Jubilee.
