I mentioned in a previous post that I would add a couple of books to this thread:

The Trafalgar Captains: Their Lives and Memorials - edited by Colin White, due out August 2005

Nelson, the Admiral - Colin White, due out September, 2005

.....and spotted on Amazon.co.uk whilst delving for something else:

Trafalgar: The Untold Story of the Greatest Sea Battle in History by Nicholas Best

...ps. I'm curious as to what the "untold" part is... I know this book has only been out, I believe, less than a fortnight, but has anyone read it yet?

Pleased to have you aboard, Si.

I bought several new Trafalgar books, but haven't got that one. Does it say anything new?

Mentioned on another list, Nelson's Surgeon: William Beatty, Naval Medicine, and the Battle of Trafalgar, by Brockwell, Cardwell & Moss.

I received my copy of Chatham Publishing's New Booklist, Summer 2006, today in the post, and noticed listed is Falconer's New Universal Dictionary of the Marine, 1815 Edition edited by William Burney.

This is a facsimile copy and available from next month.

I saw mention of these two forthcoming publications on another list:

The War for All the Oceans: From Nelson at the Nile to Napoleon at Waterloo by Roy Adkins

and also, very interestingly, IMO, Biography of Betsy Wynne by Iain Duncan Smith. I imagine this one will interest Susan ;)

The Betsey Wynne book sounds good. I'm still trying to remember why Iain Duncan Smith's name came up before. I'm thinking it must be related to the navy somehow because I'm not in the habit of following the careers of Conservative party members. :P

...well he was in Scots Guards; does that have something to do with it?

I had a little catalogue from Chatham in the post and notice a new Pocock:

Breaking the Chains.

One of the O'Brian companion books that I have owned and used for a number of years has been reissued. An additional 150 pages were added and some corrections made.

The new title is "The Patrick O'Brian Muster Book" (pub 2006) by Anthony Gary Brown

The original title was "Persons, Animals, Ships and Cannon in the Aubrey-Maturin Sea Novels of Patrick O'Brian" (pub 1999)

Click Here for some information and reader comments.

It is a little pricy at Amazon but I found better prices with some searching.
