As you do, I came across one thing whilst looking for another..... :)

Eyes of the Admiralty: J.T. Serres: An Artist in the Channel Fleet, 1799-1800: Details here

.... and further information here.

Has anyone got it or seen it? Any comments?

I own a copy, purchased a year or so back. It is an interesting book with some rewarding reproductions of watercolours of the ships on blockade duty (including a three panel panorama of the Inshore Squadron) and many views of the coast of France, with a remarkable set of profiles of Ushant.

Thanks for your comments, Peter. It sounds worth hunting out, or getting from the library.

Many thanks...
