Post James Fenimore Cooper: The Two Admirals
I am about seven chapters into this book and am enjoying it so far. The relationship between Vice-Admiral Sir Gervaise Oakes and Rear-Admiral Richard Bluewater reminds me a bit of Bolitho and Herrick (or should that be the other way around?). Oakes' faithful "Gallygo" is a Killick/Allday cross.

The story is set during the "Forty-Five," which is a nice change of pace from Revolutionary/Napoleonic fare.

I just finished reading this book. The first chapter was a bit slow, but the following chapters hooked me into the story. The end was quite touching. Sorry if this is a bit vague LOL. I don't want to give too much away.

I think you'll enjoy it. There are a lot of amusing bits. At least, I found them amusing.
