Post Michael Aye: "Barracuda"
I just finished this novel -- the third in the author's Fighting Anthonys series. The fourth ("Seahorse") is on order.

No Spoilers

It does not appear that anyone else in the Forum is reading this series due to the lack of replies about the first two books ("The Reaper" and "HMS Seawolf). Maybe that is due to the fact that I posted that the author is an American writing about the RN (always a difficult task).

However, I am enjoying the stories and the characters as well as learning new aspects of American history. Aye has created two RN officer half-brothers who share a RN admiral as a father and different British and American mothers. Thus elements of both societies can be introduced. That makes for an interesting contrast. This novel is set in the Revolutionary America of 1777.

On the con side, the publisher seems to be small and publishes mostly ebook versions. This series is also available in (TPB) printed editions available from Amazon, which are the ones I am reading. Editing appears to be a problem but not a major one. I exchanged a few emails with the author and he told me that the publisher has launched a re-editing of the first two books, which I assume will impact the ebook versions more quickly. The author has also switched the personnel doing his own editing.

Most of the reviews at Amazon are very positive and I look forward to the continuation of the series.
