Herewith a few more details of the festival to be held in three weeks time. From this report, it appears to be bigger and better than even usual.

Read here.

..... interesting! Looks like there is a Russian replica frigate visiting next weekend: details here.

I haven't seen that one before and am looking forward to doing so.

I thought I would just add a footnote to the posts that I have made about the Festival.

We had a more exciting time than I ever thought we would.
This newspaper report - the two paras at the foot of the photograph of the Russian ship - will explain.

With the assistance of the Yarmouth pilot and three lifboats
from the RNLI and in particular the GY and Gorleston life boats plus one other, gently nudged and towed us into the river mouth, and the largest lifeboat, the Samarbeta then towed us into othe quay about two miles down river. I have long supported the RNLI by buying cards, and items from their shops, and happily dropping small donations into their collecting boxes, but never thought I'd see them working at such close proximity. The captain of the little historic vessel, the Coronia, apologised most profusely, but was quickly reassured that we had all a most exciting trip.

We were also fortunate that we had a BBC Radio Norfolk reporter aboard, Andrew Turner, who phoned one of his contacts, a coach proprietor from Caiston-on-Sea, and organised a coach to transport us back the two miles or so back up river to the Festival.

I never did get aboard the Shtandart, but the Coronia was tied up behind her, and as we left the quay initially, I did get some photos of her rather splendid, decorative stern.

p.s.....

Herewith some of my own photographs:

...and last, but not least, The Shtandart

And you said that you don't "do exciting." Thanks for posting the photos. Too bad you didn't get to visit the Shtandart.
