From The Times December 7th, 1816:

"..... a Board of Longitude was held at the Admiralty on Thursday, which sat a considerable time. It is said, that very great errors in the calculations for the recent eclipse of the sun have been detected in the Nautical Almanack for the present year ...."

For info: HM Nautical Almanac Office and while hunting about for that I found The Practical Navigator, and Seaman's New Daily Assistant
