Post Royal Naval Female School
While looking at something about the boat cloak, I came upon a notice for the same which mentions the Royal Naval Female School which was, apparently, formed in 1840, for providing "assistance for the daughters of naval officers" and which became The Female Naval Orphan School. Scroll down to the entry for 1857.

There is mention of the school in this page from the National Archives.

Post Re: Royal Naval Female School
Researching further information in the TDA about the establishment, I see that in the issue of April 15th, 1840, it states that ".... The originator and founder of the institution is a distinguished sailor himself, Admiral Sir Thomas Williams, G.C.B., who has given a munificent donation of 1,000l. ...... "
