Noted in The Observer, January 1st, 1792 that, in Brussels, James Hawkins Whitsher, Captain, RN, married Miss Bentick, who was the eldest daughter of the late Captain Bentick, and cousin to the Duke of Portland.

James Hawkins Whitshed: presumably the same person. There's a portrait of him here.

It also looks like the newspaper couldn't get the spelling of the name of the bride correct either.

The Times, October 6th, 1785:

" ...... Monday, after being seven years married without having any children, the wife of the carpenter of his Majesty's ship Vestal, at Deptford, was safely delivered of three fine boys; they and the mother are all likely to do well. ....."
