Post Irish flags
Reading "Irish Intelligence" in The Times, January 11th, 1785, I came across the following which is new to me, Irish green flags.

"..... The additional flag, which it is said his Majesty intends to appoint, in compliment to the naval establistment for this kingdom, is to be green, as the Irish standard; of which division there will be one Admiral, one Vice Admiral, and one Rear Admiral; and the four provincial Vice Admirals, at present on our establishment, to be abolished. ..."

According to Wikipedia it was an "unofficial naval jack" in the 18th & 19th centuries.
Didn't know that either, or that there had been so many other Irish flags.

This is an interesting post. I'm curious about the Irish naval establishment. What did it entail?
