Post "take the con"
I do not believe that to "take the con" is a term used during the AoS period but I cannot seem to find any definitive word. I usually connect this with the "bridge" of a modern ship rather than with a quarterdeck. Does anyone know when this expression first appeared?

I found this term in an AoS novel I am reading.

From Etymology Online (a very cool resource):
http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=con

And from http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/con (definition #3).

So, apparently it's ok. But you don't tend to find it in AoS fiction, do you? I also picture a modern ship & was surprised at this.

Thanks very much. I'm not just surprised but shocked.
