Post Super sleuths needed ....

The Times, August 14th, 1786:

" .... It is reported that a young naval officer of distinction, has, from some cause not yet made public, been so unfortunate to kill the cook of the ship to which he belonged, in her late cruize. ...."

Does anyone have a clue who this was?

Perhaps he didn't like the cooking? Pretty "unfortunate" on the cook as well. :)

I can't help with the background story here but there were some 100 RN Courts-Martial for murder between 1755 and 1805.

..... as many as that, eh!

I didn't really expect you would come up with a name, but I never cease to be amazed at the information you come up with.
