 "deck there!"
what does "deck there!" mean? i have searched for a meaning in naval term. but it eludes me. thanks

A hail from aloft to attract the attention of the watch on deck. Melville uses "On deck, there!".

thanks for the answer. i thought it was a british navy term like "action station" instead of the american command "general quarters". do you know when the british first strated using "action staions"?
