Post Subsequent Careers
It's interesting to read about what became of officers when their naval careers were over.

I stumbled upon a short bio of Richard James Morrison. As far as I can tell, he only reached the rank of lieutenant (or maybe retired commander?) in the Royal Navy. One of his professional interests was astronomy. That interest eventually morphed into a career in astrology! He published astrological almanacs under the name "Zadkiel."

Does anyone else have any examples of unusual post-naval careers?

Post Re: Subsequent Careers
There was Captain Thomas Thrush who became convinced that war was morally wrong and resigned his commission, with a letter addressed to the King on 'the unlawfulness of war'. He continued active in the pacifist cause for the rest of his life.
